Fusion of Optical and Sar Satellite Data for Improved Land Cover Mapping in Agricultural Areas

چکیده
Focus of this paper is on the integration of optical and SAR data for improved land cover mapping in agricultural areas. The test site is located east of Nordhausen, Thuringia, Germany. From April to December 2005 Landsat-5 TM, ASAR APP and ERS-2 data were acquired continuously over the test site building up a comprehensive time series. Regarding the fusion of optical and SAR data following three aspects will be addressed by this paper. The value of different methodologies for the synergistic usage of both data types is subject of a first analysis. Multitemporal SAR images provide an important data base for land cover and crop type mapping issues. This will be demonstrated in the second section of this paper. Finally, a classification scheme for the generation of basic land cover maps using both optical and SAR data will be presented. With respect to operational applications the proposed procedure should have a high potential for automation.

Evaluation of Sentinel-1 Interferometric SAR Coherence efficiency for Land Cover Mapping
In this study, the capabilities of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) time series data and machine learning have been evaluated for land cover mapping in Iran. In this way, a time series of Sentinel-1 SAR data (including 16 SLC images with approximately 24 days time interval) from 2018 to 2020 were used for a region of Ahvaz County located in Khuzestan province. Using InSAR proces...

Robust quantitative estimates of land use and land cover change are necessary to develop policy solutions and interventions aimed towards sustainable land management. Here, we evaluated the combination of Landsat and L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data to estimate land use/cover change in the dynamic tropical landscape of Tanintharyi, southern Myanmar. We classified Landsat and L-band SA...

متن کاملUsing dual-polarised L-band SAR and optical satellite imagery for land cover classification in Southern Vietnam: comparison and combination
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and optical images contain different types of land cover information. Moreover, whereas like-polarisation SAR images are predominately influenced by surface backscattering properties, the volume backscattering characteristics of surfaces are well represented by SAR cross-polarisation data. Hence, combined use of likeand cross-polarisation data could enhance the la...
